Your job is to answer the question ‘Where’? Where do you think Columbus first saw land (' landed')? Where did Columbus think he landed? How did he respond to the people he saw in this new land? What happened with the ships and the crew after Columbus landed?

In order to find out this information, you will write a real-life report. You write this as if you were actually talking to your boss; you report what is happening. (For instance, look at a news report on TV and see how those reporters make their items.) Your report could look something like this:

Well, it's Christmas Eve 1492, and something extraordinary happened today. We landed on what we believed to be ......

1. Write down what happened after land was first sighted and write down where you think Columbus landed. For information, please visit the websites listed below. You can also find these websites at the Resources Page of the Columbus WebQuest. You don't have to use the information from all of these websites; make your own selection.

2. Write down everything you can find out about the native people living in the new land. What was the reaction of Columbus and the crew? How did the native people respond to Columbus and the crew?

3. Write your real-life report. You can use the example above to start your report if you wish to. Your report should consist of 300 to 500 words. You can also include pictures.
